Opera mobile and the web page mod

So after i installed opera, by default it sets a system wide home page. the built in web browser cant handle it. which i wasnt to bothered about, until the app began to annoy me, there are several glitches which are not major but rather annoying. so! i have decide to wait until the finished product is released. but i found when i removed it and re applied the web page mod it failed? so i set about sorting it. i managed to get it to work by the following steps:

1. Get the .cre file from my previous post.

2. Using x-plore put the file in private/10202be9/persists (overwrite if needed).

3 Start the web browser, the old web page should be visable.

4. Close the web browser and go back to x-plore, return to the file you inserted and edit it. find the location of the start page as before (see previous post) and only change z - c then save making not of the address u just modified, as it does not exist yet you will need to make it.

5. Once the folders have been created drop your custom .html file into the folder. fin

A few favourite app's of the moment :

Here are a few app's I'm using they are really very good and I have only come across these recently see below for link and description.

Padersync  pade

This is an FTP client which is pretty good I'm using it to access important documents stored on my PC while I'm at uni as well as accessing entire web sites that I have saved (as I wouldn't want to carry them all the time in my phone). you will also need an FTP server server and the skills to set it up.

Opera 9.5 Beta release

Impressive new .sis browser (opera mini is good but it would always be limited by java) there are some known issues one being that it will override the homepage mod featured here previously, this is however rendered irrelevant as it allows you to set a custom home page including a page stored on memory for example c:/shared/startpage/index.htm I'm liking it, especially the new widget function. They operate almost as small app's check it out it's worth it. Sorry no screen shot just check it out now.

VRCC video web cam appvrcc

This app allows one to stream a feed from their phone to a web page or just use it as a web cam. it's far better than mobiola, but a little more specific in it's operating requirements.

If you have any requests for app's or app's you would like to see featured here don't hesitate to contact me: uiqthreeblog@gmail.com

USER GUIDE
======================

This application connects a Nintendo Wii remote to a S60 mobile phone via bluetooth. Once connected it emulates the keypresses on the mobile phone.

1) After installation (internal memory favoured), turn on bluetooth and run application.

2) When the main screen appears, use the Options menu and select 'Discover WiiMote'.

3) Instantly press the 1 and 2 button on the Wii remote at once (or the connect button inside the battery case) till the lights start to flash and keep flashing.

4) Once connected send mobiPad to background ('hide' on phone or home button on wiimote). MobiPad starts to emulate the keypresses automatically.

KEY MAPPING
======================
(only for UIQ version)

The mapping is designed for holding the remote crossways in two hands ('GameBoy style') with the cross facing to the left.

A button - enter
B button - space
+ (PLUS) - keypad 3
- (MINUS) - keypad 1
home - sends app to background / brings it to front
1 - keypad 5
2 - keypad 9
directions - up down left right
power - turns off wiimote

Note: The mapping was designed for P1/W950 devices. However most games and emulators will let you configure your keys.

UIQ3 Monster bass v2

Hey so basically I have tried this mod several times with no obvious change in volume or bass. This upsets me because I see lots of posts on forums from people that own a p1 and claim to be enjoying the new found volume and bass. recently I have applied the mod again to my p1 but I'm still unsure if it is using the files from the AAT folder as opposed to the files in ram. basically when I patch the file, the extension changes to M3SAudioPolicyMgr.dll.bak when I use this file the phone seems to crash so I thought I would try deleting the extra extension!! this seemed to work but I'm still not sure?!

Basically I'm after any p1 owners to come forward and share their sound mod skillz. Together we can put together a super easy to follow tutorial on this blog, all ideas and exp welcome.

Please either comment here or contact me: uiqthreeblog@gmail.com

Make sure you never master reset!!!

Im not sure if it is an isolated incident but im not willing to risk it!

when i modded my p990 the calender app stoped working while i was at work. (im a tree surgeon and i wanted to organise!). Anyway i thought i would try a master reset on my lunch break the phone needed a fresh start anyway. this appeared to brick the phone. blank screen with just back light. not good!

After getting home and trying a few things i found there was nothing i could do to save it. i think some how i screwed the gdfs files up! (for those not knowing what these are, thats bad). so when ever i get an error now i just use SEUS this is the safest option for me, as now i own a p1 and i really dont wanna brick it lol.

just thought i would share the knowlege, if anyone else has had a sililar exp please comment i would loe to be proven wrong here.

Customising the UIQ3 web browser homepage

Now i thought this sounded relitivley easy but it turned out to be a bit of a fiddle. the steps explaind below are how i got it working on my p1:
-First i downloaded the mod from HERE (you need to be a member of ipmart to see it, it's worth it!) -Then i set to work carfully following the steps (Thanks to sh.a.rk for this)

1. Create dir c:/Shared/sp/

2. Paste Index.htm to this folder

The original description was not very coherent so i fiddled and this is what is did:

-Copied the file 10205afa.cre (from the download .zip) to c:\Private\10202be9\persists\ (this deletes all original bookmarks)

-Open the browser
(this forces the browser to make a new home page in ram @ z:/private/100051e6/startpage/index.htm)

-Close the browser (completly) -using X-plore edit the file c:\Private\10202be9\persists\10205afa.cre and within this file do a search for z:/private/100051e6/startpage/index.htm change this to file://localhost/c:/Shared/sp/index.htm

If you copy the html from your favorite web site and save it as index.htm in this folder it now becomes your home page. cool huh! Now this essentially tells the browser to look into the c drive for the file instead of ram, i had some teething problems and found that instead of the folder in c:\ being sp i called it strat page and it worked like a dream. screen shots of my configuration below\\//

The two most important mods!

ok so you need to access system folders and you want to install unsign material it's quite simple. (your thinking it's not).

Imoprtant notes:
- there are several ways, i will describe the easy one lol.

In order to access system folders download capswitch from: HERE and the Install sever from HERE now hopfully you should be able to install capswitch without signing it. this worked for me, so please contact me if your having any probs.

The deal is that Capswitch used to need to be signed before you install it, so in order to apply the invalid certificate mod the python script mod needed to be applied. the python permissions mod tutorial can be found HERE

My p1

Here are some screen shots from my Sony Ericsson P1:
- G700 icons ported to p1.
- G700 control panel icons fixed.
- G900 notes application and back up patch.
- Custom popup menu with icons.
- Modified status bar.
- Custom home page in built in web browser.
- Moddified network operator icon swapped with mainmenu link renamed to my name. (when u tap it it opens main menu).

These are only a few mods available for these phones, i will be writing a beginners guide to modding the platform soon. All respect goes to orginal mod makers.

The first post

hi there!
I thought i would start a blog about the uiq3 platform. This has been my mobile platform of choice for 4 years no, and i want to share some of my modding knowlege. Primarrily this will be a show off, site as i have modded my P1 to my needs. i have found that the UK modding scene is alive but there seems that allot of the fresh hacks come from eastern europe. which is cool but somtimes the explanations of how to apply these mods is a little, well dis jointed.

so im here to help! (lol if i can)

So if u have any questions regarding the uiq3 platform mods and hacks applying files, or just simple customisation contact : uiqthreeblog@googlemail.com and ill get back to you.
